Although incandescent lamps of explosion-proof lamps are still widely used, they are gradually being replaced by other light sources (LEDs) due to their low luminous efficiency and short lifespan. Among them, single-plug starterless fluorescent lamps and self-ballasted high-pressure mercury lamps and high-pressure sodium lamps are widely used.
The single-plug non-starter fluorescent lamp of the explosion-proof lamp is a cold cathode gas discharge lamp. The light-emitting principle is to use the discharge between the electrodes to make the mercury atoms generate ultraviolet radiation, thereby exciting the fluorescent material on the inner wall of the lamp to emit light.
This kind of fluorescent lamp has high luminous efficiency (about 3 times that of incandescent lamps), long service life, and does not require a starter when starting (usually there is a conductive layer on the wall of the lamp tube, called the ignition layer, the ignition of fluorescent lamps Rely on it to complete; when the lamp tube is broken, the glow layer is also destroyed, and the lamp is extinguished), the cathode temperature is low (about 200 ℃), it is a safe and practical light source, and it is very suitable for making safety-enhancing lighting fixtures.
The self-ballasted high-pressure mercury lamp of the explosion-proof lamp is a mixed light source lamp that uses high-pressure mercury vapor discharge and three kinds of incandescent and fluorescent substances to emit light. It has the advantages of high brightness, simple structure and fast starting speed.
It has changed the shortcomings of the previous high-pressure mercury lamps that require additional ballasts, and uses tungsten filaments to limit the current and improve the light color. The disadvantage is that the life is shorter than that of ordinary fluorescent high-pressure mercury lamps. High-pressure sodium lamp is a high-pressure sodium vapor discharge lamp, which has the advantages of high luminous efficiency, low power consumption, strong fog-penetrating ability and long life.
LED explosion-proof lamps are light-emitting diode light sources. This kind of light source has the advantages of small size, long life and high efficiency, and can be used continuously for up to 100,000 hours. In the future, the application of LED light source in the lighting field has become the mainstream. However, compared with other light sources, LEDs also have shortcomings, such as low color rendering in white light illumination.
White LEDs currently produced with yellow phosphors and blue light have a color rendering index of about 80. It can be used as general lighting, but it is insufficient for some places with high color resolution requirements.
Although the color rendering index can be increased to 90 or higher by adding appropriate red phosphors and other methods, there is still a certain gap compared with 99 of incandescent lamps, and its efficiency will be affected.
Color rendering can also be improved through RGB color mixing processing, but more work needs to be done in the popularization of this technology, so in terms of color rendering, LED still needs to be improved. As for the high price and the large one-time investment, in fact, considering the comprehensive cost, the use of LEDs in many occasions still saves a lot of costs.
